‘Tis the year of destination weddings! Since moving to Orlando FL, I have had to broaden my area of coverage… slightly 🙂 A few months ago I traveled to upstate New York to celebrate with Jessica and Ray as they tied the knot. We had a spectacular day full of sunshine, great moods, and loads of laughter.
The girls got ready at the house while the guys met my second photographer Valerie at the church. It was a quiet and contemplative morning, the girls didn’t rush about yet everything was going smoothly. Jessica was a bit nervous, but it didn’t show. I had plenty of time to play with her details, and even got inspired to do something different for the shoe shot, since they were so lacey.
The boys clean up nice! The ceremony was at the spacious and colorful St. Charles Borromeo church in Greece NY.After church formals, we drove to the Ridgemont Country Club to have some fun with the bridal party and the newlyweds for pictures, since we had a few good hours to kill between the ceremony and reception. Wedding days like this are a photographer’s dream! Not having to rush through pictures and posing, having enough time to arrange the bridal party in various flattering poses, and then still having time for bride and groom portraits, it was truly a priceless treat for which I am so thankful. Even though it was a bright afternoon, it was overcast, and we got a TON of amazing images.
That dress… swoon. The wedding reception was held at the Rochester Airport Marriott hotel, in a humongous ballroom draped and lit up by spotlights and blue uplighting by SoundExpress. And a shameless plug for my friend Christine, who created the pretty tags for the wine bottles, which acted as seating cards. And did you SEE that groom’s cake?! Rochester is well known for the garbage plate, and this cake from Gourmet Goodies was truly a work of art, even the cheese looked realistic!
The next time I travel for a wedding, it will be to Alabama in September. In the mean time, I’ll stay here in sunny Orlando, reminiscing about the Istas celebration, and hoping that some day, one of my travel wedding couples will decide to honeymoon right here at Disney or Universal, and I’ll get to do their Trash The Dress/Day After session in my new home town 😛 Thank you Jessica and Ray for bringing me to Rochester for your wedding, it was a perfect day!
