two oldies

I had a meeting this morning with TjT regarding my duties as the newly appointed membership chair for the Greater Rochester Professional Photographers. While I was there, I remembered that I hadn’t received my portfolio images from a wedding TjT and I shot waaayyy back in July of 2006. So he looked around his office, and dug up the CD that had been sitting on the shelf waiting for me, and I got to take it home. It’s nice to take a walk down memory lane, and remember the photographer I was back then.

But yes, I am now a board member of GRPP. It is very exciting news, because that means that I have a HUGE network of other professional photographers that I can work with and recommend to you. It also means that I am constantly redefining my craft, getting ideas and inspirations, and keeping on top of my game. Yeah!

The Cup Runneth Over…

… almost. I have booked more weddings for 2008 than I could have ever imagined. Ah, the power of a good word of mouth and efficient advertising! In fact, I have booked so many weddings, that I am about to call it a day. I want to be able to provide the best services to my existing brides, so I don’t want to book too many more weddings for this year. Maybe 3-5 more, but that’s it! Ok ok if you start crying on the phone I’ll see what I can do :P

I am so blessed to be doing what I love to do. Sharing in a couple’s happiest day - what could be better? Well, besides wedding cake… I LOVE wedding cake. And tux-wearing strawberries.

The last weddings of 2007

I have so much fun when I work as a second shooter for other professional photographers. This year I was honored to work with Rachel Gracie, Mary Corcoran, and Picture Infinity. All in all together with my own bookings, I shot and/or second-shot 20 weddings. What a fun ride! I am planning to make another post with my favorite images of 2007, but until then, I’d like to share the last five weddings of 07.

Wedding #16 happened in a big white tent in the bride’s parents’ back yard. The reception was in Shadow Lake, which was great as far as wheelchair accessibility. There were lots of guests in wheelchairs, and the staff handled it very well, pulling chairs away from the tables and making plenty of space for everyone. My favorite part was watching the guests dance. What a great experience.

Wedding #17 was a daytime wedding at the Casa Larga vineyards.  I have to say, it was a different feeling to be done by 4pm.  I really enjoyed natural light pictures, and my favorite part of the day was when we went out for a walk among the grapes.

Wedding #18 was in Bristol Harbour. Oh, my, gosh. What a place! Everything was perfect and gorgeous and unforgettable. Top of the line service, details, food, culturally diverse ceremony, and a great party that lasted well into the night, finishing off with a huge bonfire.

Wedding #19 was very sweet and cute. The bride and groom are so in love, the air crackles around them. We were shooting their formals and they started kissing, and completely forgot we were there! *ahem* teehee!

Last wedding of 07, #20, had a Christmas theme. It was on December 22nd. I had a chance to be a “real” assistant when we forgot a photo umbrella at the church and only remembered that fact at the reception site. I drove back to the church to get it, but it was gone. When I came back to the reception 40 minutes later, the bride’s dad had brought the umbrella with him. Phew! The most memorable moment of the evening was when one of the groomsmen overgesticulated with his beer bottle and it slipped, dropping like a bomb to the floor and exploding all over. I got some awesome pictures of it in action! (sorry, it’s not portfolio material, so I won’t be showing it online :D)

I’m being silly

In the image above, I am a “meez” wedding photographer. Ok, so that was all I could come up with, and yes, that is what I look like. :D Except instead of green I will most likely be wearing black or red.

As of right now, I am officially booked for 22 weddings, and waiting to receive 4 more contracts in the mail this week. After the last bridal show I got almost 20 inquiries, and after having to say NO to most of them, I decided to update my main weddings page with the dates that I am already booked for. I am sad that I cannot photograph every bride that wants me. I need more Saturdays in 2008! I only have 6 Saturdays left in the season (May-October).

To all 26 of you that have already booked me - THANK YOU! I am looking forward to working with you on the most special day of your lives. I have so many great ideas about the pictures we can take, I know there will be some gorgeous poses in the mix!
