Trash The Dress!!!

Oh. My. Gosh. I finally did it! I had my first TTD session! If you have no clue what I’m talking about, check out this website, where a bunch of fabulous photographers submit their best images of dress trashing.

Anyway. Today’s TTD was made possible by Megan and Rachel, who were my partners in crime and a bit of trespassing :) Megan did makeup, I did hair, and Rachel endured the torture like the great model she is.

We went to an old barn out in the country and got hundreds of awesome shots! You can view the full SLIDESHOW, and I also want to show bigger images of my favorites:

There was even a fake bouquet or two!

Strike up the pose

From the inside

Up and away

The point here is that you don’t care that it gets dirty.

Sitting on the floor

In the hay

Wheeeee! Hayyyyy!

Change of accessories

My favorite headshot of the day

My favorite inside-the-barn picture, ala Alice In Wonderland

Happy to be outside, and accessory change

And some more hay

Again, don’t forget to view the SLIDESHOW. Also, please let me know what you think, I’m looking forward to some comments!

Orvek Wedding

WOW. What an awesome day I had last Saturday! Andrea and Jeffrey celebrated their love for each other in the Browncroft Community Church and the Clarion Hotel, and it was an affair to remember. Mainly, because Andrea looked absolutely breathtaking! I am still going through the 1781 pictures Kim and I took, and I’m having such a hard time deleting them and narrowing the selection down to a more manageable number for Mr. & Mrs. Orvek. I am currently stuck at 1006 awesome ones!

Must get back to editing… but until then, here’s one of my favorites:

Slideshow coming at the end of the week! I can’t wait to show you the pictures we took at the Charlotte beach carousel. Ooooh!

I’m advertising!

As of July 17, I am a proud owner of a half-page annual ad in the Rochester Wedding magazine! The fall issue comes out in September and I will be in it. I’m also listed on their website (I haven’t had the time to do much to it yet). This is so exciting! This is the first time in four years that I’m turning to advertising - before this, it’s always been word of mouth.

I still want to get good references via word of mouth, so I am starting a referral program for all you brides who liked my services and are recommending me to your friends. Email me to get more details - or wait patiently until my new rates for the 2008 season are posted.

Oh, and I would like to post a portfolio image from the 7-7-7 wedding. Except I can’t, because the couple have a no-show clause in their wedding contract. Boooo!

2 weddings in 1 weekend

I assisted two weddings last weekend. The first one was in the Belhurst Castle in Geneva, and the second one was in Greece (no, not the country). Both were beautiful and eventful, although if you ever want me to recommend you a DJ, don’t go with the 2nd one. Ever.

I picked the following shot for my portfolio from wedding #1:

It was late in the day and the couple were on their way back to the reception. We later took them outside again and did some night/moon shots, which turned out really well, but I just felt like there was more of a connection between these two lovebirds shown in this photograph, and I absolutely adore that big sun with all its rays spilling around them.

Wedding #2 gets this image for my portfolio:

The groomsmen were a lot of fun. They had handsome suits on, and canes. They wanted to pretend like they were models, so we had all kinds of fun in their huge back yard. There were a few more pictures that I liked that we took by the creek (them fishing with their canes), but this one just looks more like portfolio material.

In other news, I am almost ready to announce my new products for the 2008 wedding season, I am still waiting for some of the stuff in the mail. I even got an enthusiastic approval from my first 2008 bride who I met with this week. I’m so excited!
