Janie and Scott got married in Guntersville National Park in Decatur AL, and I was invited to document this momentous occasion. I’ve known Janie for over 10 years, as we were dorm-mates back in college, and spent a lot of time with or near each other doing things that students do in tiny college towns, which in our case mostly meant studying. I was excited to meet and get to know her groom Scott over the weekend, and in turn she got to know my husband Mark better, as well. We were lucky to be able to stay at The Lodge and take in all the sights and views, as well as experience the (quiet) mountain life that is Decatur. I adore travel weddings!
The best part, though, was the wedding day itself! I knew that besides being bookworms, both Janie and Scott are avid Doctor Who fans. Janie ended up wearing TARDIS-blue Converse as her “something blue”, which I loved. We also had some play time with Whovian scarves and sonic screwdrivers and what not, involving the wedding party for even more fun. There were some great details at this wedding!
I’m dying over the Wonder Woman socks and the blue shoes (“better to run with” said Janie when her mom exclaimed in surprise)There were many favorite moments during the sunset ceremony, here are a few highlights. 1. Grandpa reserving a spot for his dearly departed “baby Ruth” on a chair next to him; 2. Janie walking down the aisle crying and laughing at the same time; 3. The view and the SUNSET, omg; and 4. The intense emotions during the vows. The bridal party was so much fun! Don’t you think Scott pulls off a great Doctor Who?! That is one of my favorite groom pictures ever.Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Hopkin for an amazing weekend of friendship, laughter, and fun celebrations – and for the fact that I’ve added yet another pin to my States Traveled map 🙂
