his summer, Samantha and I travelled down to Martin, KY to photograph Cara and Nate’s wedding. It was a very special wedding to me because both Cara and Nate – and a bunch of other people I got to see – went to Berea College with me. I even worked together with Nate in the theatre department. It was a great honor to be remembered all these years later, and to find that I hadn’t yet booked the date when Cara inquired about my availability.
It was probably THE hottest day of the summer. The celebration was held at Cara’s parents’ house, where the couple had custom-built a totally cool wedding and reception site. Since everything was happening in the big back yard and there was no way to avoid each other all day, they decided to go for a first look.

Gorgeous couple

It was great to see my old college friends!

Here is one of my favorite images of the day. Cara and Nate decided to walk down (or in their case, UP) the aisle together, separating at the end and meeting up again at the front. The sun was setting and Cara was beautifully backlit as she walked up.

Ceremony

It was VERY emotional! Not a dry eye anywhere…

They opted for wedding cupcakes instead of wedding cake. It worked out beautifully because everyone could have their choice of flavor. And there was pie, too.

I can’t wait to show you pictures from their Trash The Dress next! We did the TTD the very next morning, hang over and all. I’ll tell you all about it next week. Thanks Cara and Nate for having us in your wedding, I had a blast and Sam enjoyed her first trip down south!
