For photographers: WPPI

WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) holds an annual conference, workshop, and trade show in Vegas, which is always brimming with outstanding and fabulous photographers. I would have liked to go last year and I would have LOOOOVED to go this year, but I bought my house instead, so I’m waiting just ONE more year to go. In the mean time, the awareness campaign has already begun, via F-Stop Beyond, who invited 24 super awesome photographers to create a short film about photography in 24 hours.  While promoting WPPI, they will also be competing for donations to two great charities, Thirst Relief and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. These are people that are not only passionate about their art, but also very generous and giving in all other areas in their lives. I can’t wait to see what they cook up.

Here is the first episode (you can go to F-Stop Beyond and subscribe to the RSS reader to see others as they come out)

My favorite photographers in this bunch are Jasmine Star (favorite couples photographer), [b]ecker (favorite in relaxed portraits), Jessica Claire (best use of light), and Gene Higa (favorite destination photographer). I’m also very glad that they are donating to NILMDTS. I’ve gone back and forth trying to get the courage to apply to be  a NILMDTS photographer, but I just don’t know if I have the emotional strength and the courage it takes to photograph the little babies who are about to become heaven’s newest angels.

Happy watching and getting acquainted with some of the greatest photographers out there.

If you want to send me to WPPI, I won’t complain!:D

Gustavo - Go for it, apply, it’s very rewarding, i am now an area coordinator too for NILMDTS. Yes, it is hard at times but the best feeling i have experienced is when i place the images in the mail and realize this is all they will ever have left of their child to cherish.

Melisa B - I didn’t know now I lay me down to sleep has a photography program. I’m already registered as a “hero’s project” photographer, so I will def register as a now I lay me down to sleep one! Thanks!
